Programme Winter School 2023

EAERE-ETH European Winter School
Ascona, January 29 – February 3, 2023

The Winter School is designed to last for 5 days and consists of about 26 contact hours of lectures and exercises and several hours of scheduled group work and students' presentations. Each lecturer will give 2 lectures of 90 min. After the morning lectures, students will be awarded the opportunity to present a her/his own paper (or a paper she/he likes if not possible). Two teachers discuss each paper.

Presentation is, however, not mandatory to be admitted to the Winter School. Students are, however, encouraged to take this opportunity that will allow them to get feedback on their work from instructors and their peers. Younger PhD students who do not yet have own research to present will profit from the opportunity to learn from and discuss with their more advanced peers. Students who wish to present a paper are asked to tick the corresponding box during the application process.

During consultation sessions students can privately consult with lecturers. It is up to the students to ask lecturers directly for a private meeting. Group consultations can be organised too. Private or group meetings during the consultation time can be held inside the classroom, which remains open until the end of the consultation session. It is up to the students and lecturers to make the consultation as much formal or informal as they prefer. Also working groups can be organised during the consultation time. We strongly encourage all students to take the most advantage of the consultation time from the very beginning of the School.
